A dome port is typically something you’d only put in front of the camera lens, but Light & Motion has other ideas for it. You generally want to use a dome port to affect the light going into the camera but a new Sola Dome Port will soon be an accessory you can use for light coming out of LED lights.
Their Sola line of LED Dive Lights will soon be able to pair up with a Dome Port accessory which will give users the most even and uniform light field. The Sola Dome Port was developed for use particularly with their video dive lights, functioning as a primary lens for the COB LED chips which have no optics to speak of.
With the LED Dome Port the light coming from these models will have very minimal hotspots of brightness, helping to create a very even exposure which is doubly important for shooting video underwater. The Sola LED Dome Port costs $100 and simply screws onto the housing of the medium sized models of Light & Motion’s Sola LED dive lights.
