The short film ‘Weather’ by Reef Patrol is a gorgeous video that has a lot of cool things going for it. The theme of this movie is fluorescent reef life, with a special on corals, and it is shot with exquisite artistry.
Better yet, what we love about Weather is that it’s chock full of only Caribbean corals, with a close look at many corals us reef aquarists rarely get to see, and definitely not fluorescentl-ly. There’s loads of Agaricia, Orbicella, Montastrea cavernosa and many other species which absolutely shine under fluorescent conditions.
There’s no single reason that corals make such great fluorescent photo and video subjects, but the diversity of colors and textures definitely makes for an eye grabbing subject.
Not to mention the fireworm, anemones and the lonesome tiny fish also shine under the specific blue wavelength of light that most of our corals live under. Again you’ll definitely want to pay attention to the corals featured in this video because none of them are species which reefers would be familiar with.
