Probiotix is a new bacterial supplement from Prodibio, the company that’s been making aquarium probiotics since 1998. Long before it was cool, Prodibio has been making and promoting the use of specific bacterial strains to improve the conditions of living aquarium systems.
The cornerstone of the Prodibio probiotic approach has been BioDigest, a capsule of live nitrifying bacteria that is fueled by Bioptim, the prebiotic supplement to encourage the right bacteria to grow in aquarium water. Probiotix is the newest live bacteria capsule which contains different strains that are complimentary to BioDigest.
According to Prodibio, Probiotix “perfectly ensure the nitrification phase, which is essential for obtaining aquarium water under optimum conditions. Probiotix reinforces this crucial phase of the nitrogen cycle introducing strains different from those of the BioDigest and increasing the diversity in the aquarium.”
Like a living ecosystem, the effect of live bacteria on the nitrification process also benefits from increased biodiversity. A bacterial community with a greater range of strains is more flexible and better able to adapt to varying conditions.
