The Mindstream has been a long time coming, and questions of its continued existence seem to arise every couple of months. There is a reasonable amount of doubt that the Mindstream could possibly do all that it claims, but in all fairness, Step Ahead Innovations has had the device in development for a commensurate amount of time for its capabilities.
In addition to showing up at MACNA and ReefStock for the past few years, even without a product to ship, Mindstream has just released an updated photo of the device itself. It seems that a big part of the housing and especially the rear magnetic puck, which is the hub for power and communication, has been completely redesigned.
Keeping working electronics and plastic submerged in seawater for an extended period of time is no small feat, and Step Ahead Innovations has had to really ensure that everything would work and endure according to plan. The redesigned housing is just another indication that the Mindstream aquarium water is nowhere near vaporware territory and is on track for the first rollout of beta testers in the next few months.
