We hope you’re enjoying the epic whirwind tour of the Australia aquarium scene because we still have a ton of videos to share with you. Continuing the momentum is Abyss Aquariums, a very interesting aquarium shop that has a lot going for it.
Due to the Cyclone Debbie that hit Australia’s east coast with a vengeance, getting livestock was kind of tough during the week that we visited, but Abyss Aquariums still had plenty to see. This shop is not only well stocked with products and fish, but it also makes its own glass tanks, and there’s a huge artistic workshop for creating a variety of realistic aquarium inserts and artificial corals.
If that wasn’t enough, the store also has a large breeding setup upstairs, dedicated mostly to cichlids as well as a few very large breeding freshwater stingrays. It would be so cool if our LFS also built glass tanks to order, imagine getting the frag tank of your dreams made out of glass no less, but really the large freshwater stingrays are not something we often get to see, and the fresh litter of stingray pups shows that this is one aquarium store with a healthy wet thumb.
