From the moment I touched down in Sydney Australia and started touring the local aquarium stores, the name Eastwood Aquariums came up again and again in suggestions by local reefers. This shop was saved for last so that most of one whole day could be spent at this highly recommended destination store, and the suggestions were definitely spot on.
The moment I walked into Eastwood Aquariums, I was greeted by owners Sam and Sonny, both of whom really know their stuff, and every inch centimeter of their store screams of high level passion for reef tanks. Although Australians can only trade in Australian corals, Eastwood Aquariums shows that if you dive deep enough into the coral supply the domestically collected corals leave reefers wanting for almost nothing.
Eastwood Aquariums had one of the most respectable spreads of corals we’ve seen in any retail shop, and it almost put some smaller wholesalers to shame. There must have been well over a hundred Acropora coral colonies, over fifty Aussie Scolies, more Euphyllia than I’ve ever seen in one place, and so much of everything else that you could expect from Australian waters.
It was truly quite incredible to see some of the corals going for so cheap, and there are some truly underpriced gems at this shop. Eastwood Aquariums is definitely what I look for in a reef shop, and it was well worth spending the extra time to really dive in and absorb all the corals that were for sale and on display.
