Gyre pump technology radically changed the form factor of controllable water pumps that can create this highly efficient continuous motion in reef tanks. The Glamorca GP03 gyre pump is one of Maxspects licensed product partners and it packs much of the same goodness and features of the latest gyre pumps, in a more affordable package.
The main difference between the Glamorca and the original from Maxspect is mainly in the controller side of the device, and the Glamorca is only available in one size which is comparable to the XF250. You won’t be linking up two Glamorca pumps wirelessly, and there’s no dual pump controller so these pumps are primarily stand alone, but they can still push a respectable amount of water.
For this review we collaborated with Scott Anderson of YouTube channel Mile High Reefers. Since we’ve done a gajillion reviews over the years, we thought it’d be fun, and perhaps even more elucidating, to put the Glamorca in the hands of Scott and his 210 gallon aquarium which was right on the cusp of beginning to need more flow.
It’s very refreshing to see Scott’s perspective on the Glamorca GP03 since this is his first experience with a crossflow pump such as this. It’s very interesting to hear which features he prioritizes the most and best of all, to help in the progress of his fantastic reef tank.
