The Black Storm Clownfish, formerly codenamed the Super Davinci, and nicknamed the Juggalo clownfish, finally has an official name, and release date. It’s been more than two years since Sea & Reef Aquaculture first wowed the world with their wonderfully patterned domestic clownfish strain.
Last year we got a closer look at some mature specimens of this very bold Amphiprion with a black color and super broad white barring that covers most of the face in an original way. This year we caught up with Soren of Sea & Reef and got something better, a firm release date for this fish and a hint of what’s to come.
After more than two years of development, and breeding out additional pairs, Sea & Reef is finally ready to unleash this highly desirable clownfish, with the official name of Black Storm Clownfish. Coming on November 1st, the first few fish and pairs will be of the highest grade and not tiny.
But the best part is the discovery that Sea & Reef Aquaculture will be able to ‘port’ these genetics to create other forms of this storm clownfish, including Orange Storms, Mocha Storms etc, expected sometime in 2018. A Photoshopped imagining of what the Orange Storm clownfish might looked like is featured in the header image, but we’ll have to wait a while longer to see what these turn out like.
