By now you’re all aware of the extreme flooding and damage that Hurricane Harvey has caused in rain stricken areas of Texas and Louisiana. A band of reefers led by Hernando Rocha in the Coral Springs, Florida area are mobilizing the reef aquarium community to help do our part.
Huge areas of the Texas coastline are completely inundated with water with the flooding affecting well over ten million residents. NO the government can’t take care of this all by itself and citizens all over the gulf states are driving to the region with boats, supplies and doing whatever they can to help the people living in the disaster area.
A rescue caravan of trucks, boats and supplies will be heading to the region soon; you can drop off any non-perishable food items and other supplies at World Wide Corals in Orlando and ACI in Plant City – if you can’t make it in person there’s a GoFundMe campaign for folks willing to help financially. For more information see the news coverage this effort has received from CBS Miami and let’s all pitch in so that our collective can do as much relief when they get to the disaster area.
