There’s somewhat of a renaissance happening with interesting fish and coral foods, especially those that stick on the glass so that critters can graze on them for a period of time. We’ve seen many offerings from New Era, Easy Reef and H2Ocean Fish Paste that deliver a fish grazing food attached to the glass in some fashion, but the concept is actually incredibly old.
Sera O-Nip fish foods are simple tabs or discs which come in a wide range of formulations for freshwater, herbivores and saltwater fish. But the ingredients are only part of the magic of O-Nip tabs, because their flat sides are perfect for sticking on to the aquarium glass.
There’s no messy paste, no mixing needed and definitely no other accessories required to engage a tab of Sera O-Nip. Just simply pull it out and stick it on the glass, press hard for a couple seconds and then you’re good to go.
Just about everyone has high quality ingredients in their fish food formulas these days but what really makes the Sera O-nip tabs special is the delivery of that food. Grazing fish can nip at the O-Nip food tab for up to a half hour, the almost buyoant particles get eaten by smaller fish and those that get caught in a current turn into coral food for waiting filter feeders.
Although I’ve personally been enjoying this method of ‘target feeding’ grazing fresh and saltwater fish for nearly 20 years, friends always are amazed when they come over and see me stick an O-Nip tab on the glass. It brings all the fish to the front of the tank and it will definitely prime some of my Azoox corals to extend their tentacles more during the day. [Sera]
