8K Raja Ampat and Triton Bay
Raja Ampat is the definition of bucket list diving. With over 600 species of hard coral and 1,600 species of fish, Raja Ampat will impress even the most seasoned pro. Yet, there are always some moments which stand out as a little more magical than the rest.
Capturing these moments on camera or keeping them as memories, never quite lives up to the real experience. Until now. To test the new Nauticam Weapon LT housing, Hergen Spalink of GotMuck filmed this vivid Raja Ampat and Triton Bay highlight reel using an uber expensive RED Digital Cinema camera.
The ultra crisp definition of this footage had us rewinding, rewatching and reliving the experience! The video was filmed in 8K FF (8192 x 4320) at 60fps then downsampled to 4K FF 60p. If you want to know more about what makes RED so special visit the Nauticam website.

You’re gonna wanna watch this on the biggest, bestest screen you can find to really appreciate the full splendor of this film. A high definition laptop will do, but we highly recommend seeking out a friend with a 4K monitor, or a large hi-def TV it will be worth your effort.
My best memories of Raja Ampat where the brightly colored Dendronephthya corals and the enormous schools of fish. I love how the story of this film starts with hard and soft coral seascape and builds up from there to include critters, schooling fish, mantas, and whale sharks.
Raja Ampat is located in a region known as the Birds Head Seascape. This video also features footage from Triton Bay which is south of Raja Ampat along the birds head coastline. This region is known as the heart of the coral triangle and the center of marine biodiversity.
