SWES Technology made a huge splash at DEMA last year when they introduced their innovative seawater-powered dive light. In the intervening time they’ve worked hard to develop their concept and technology to bring their first commercial product to market, the D-1001 dive light.
Like the SDL-600 demonstrated last year the D-1001 is powered by a system of cathodes and anodes which produce and electrolysis reaction when submerged reaction. The electrolysis generates enough current to power a single highly efficient light emitting diode and is good for 2500 hours of run time.
The SWES D-1001 now is said to be ten times brighter and should last longer thanks to the increased number of anodes and cathodes which before totaled 4 in the SDL-600 and now include seven overall. This battery-free dive light will be a godsend to divers in times of emergency or when you just want to be sure that your battery will ‘never’ run out.
The new SWES D-1001 will cost $499 and it will be available by the end of the year in four different colors. A waterproof dive light such as the SWES D-1001 will be an essential device for anyone who works around the ocean for a multitude of jobs and industries, and especially for ocean divers. [SWES]
