Today’s Friday Smorgasbord features some cool stories ranging from robotic fish, pesky dolphins, fun facts about fish and one of the deepest fish you’ll ever meet!
Cool Robotic Fish
Scientists at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) have built this remote controlled robotic fish that is designed to swim naturally alongside other fish in open water and spy on them without raising suspicions or disturbing their natural habitat.
Playing with Dolphins
Here is an interesting video of whales playing with dolphins off of Dana Point in Southern California. This video was shot from a drone and captured this pair of Gray Whales the pod of pesky Pacific white-sided dolphins.
Fun Facts About Fish
We don’t need excuses, we love our fish! But here are some fun facts anyway to throw around the water cooler next week.
That’s Deep Man!
We know there are fish living in some of the deepest parts of the ocean, but this video might just be the deepest-dwelling fish. Discovered in the Mariana Trench last year, the Mariana snailfish (Pseudoliparis swirei) can survive 26,000 ft. below the surface!
