Tunze will be getting into the algae reactor market by releasing two macro algae reactors, the Tunze MAR 3181 and Tunze MAR 3182, that should be available to the market by September and will be showcasing the products next month at Interzoo.
Based on the same formula we’ve seen with other algae reactors, its about using a cylinder to hold chaetomorpha, a light system to initiate photosynthesis and water pump to make sure nutrient-laden water through it. The chaeto utilizes the nutrients and keeps your water nice and clean.
Both algae reactors will be fitted with white 10W LEDs and a Tunze Silence circulation pump fitted externally and silicone hoses to transport the water.
The Tunze MAR 3181 is the smaller macro algae reactor designed for aquariums in the 100-600 liter range (26-159 US gallons.) with a flow rate of 400- 900 l/h (106-238 GPH). It measures in at 200 x 160 x 400 mm (7.9 x 6.3 x 15.7 in.). Total power draw for the Tunze MAR 3181 is 15W between the lights and the pump.
The larger Tunze MAR 3182 is rated for tanks around 500- 1,600 liters (132-423 US gallons) with a flow rate of 1,000-2,400 l/h (264 – 634 GPH) using 40W, measuring in at 310 x 250 x 430 mm (12.2 x 9.8 x 16.9 in.). Total power draw for the Tunze MAR 3182 is 40W between the lights and the pump.
We’ll look to get a better look at these at Interzoo and get pricing details as well.
