EpoReef is a new concept from German aquarium company ATI which is a kit of reef-suitable rocks. The selection of EpoReef rocks are specially chosen to be mixed and matched to create a modular system of aquascaping.
Presumably made of ceramic, the EpoReef kit is only currently available in one size for reef tanks up to 300 liters, or up to around 80 gallons. This is not a huge load of rocks but pieces with curious shapes that should fit together in creative ways to produce many nice bridges, arches, ledges and caves.
Priced at €159 or around $191 for just 9Kg or 20 pounds of rocks, the EpoReef commands a high premium of close to $10 per pound, not to mention shipping if you buy it online. A kit of various sized and shaped rocks that come together in a somewhat modular way is a very interesting proposition by ATI, but they’ve got to work on that final price so hopefully the EpoReef rock kit is still a work in progress.
