With InterZoo right around the corner, we thought it would be fun to share this photograph from InterZoo in 1968 showing the stand of Heiko Bleher’s company Aquarium Rio.
Heiko Bleher is a pioneer in freshwater and brackish aquarium fish, who’s family history of aquatic exploration is quite fascinating. Even if you aren’t familiar with Bleher’s name, you have probably seen many freshwater fish he discovered and have been named after him including introducing most of the wild discus variants into the hobby, several rainbowfish including Melanotaenia boesemani, and many other types of angels, cory cats, tetras and dwarf cichlids.
Bleher will be at InterZoo this year as well marking one of the few people or companies that can probably boast that honor.
