We’ve wrapped up not one but two great ReefStock conferences this year and with that, we had some amazing speakers both in Denver, and in Sydney Australia. Earlier this year we shared some uncommon captive coral expertise from Worldwide Corals, and now it’s time for the other side of that coin, WILD corals.
Vincent Chalias is arguably the most experienced and knowledgeable coral farmer in the world, having introduced many hit species of exotic corals to the aquarium trade, including Acropora efflorescens, Red Dragon Acro, and Acropora speciosa. In addition to farming hundreds of coral species in the wild, Vincent has also recently kicked off a new project to educate people about coral farming with a real farm you can visit in Bali called the Ocean Gardener project.
In this presentation Vincent Chalias shatters common myths about wild corals, wild reefs, and how this is giving us an unnatural expectation of what our reef aquariums should look like. Of all the videos we’ve ever shared, Vincent’s ReefStock presentation is one which is so full of useful, practical information about how wild corals acclimate to aquarium life that you’ll definitely have to watch more than once to take it all in.
