The Rainbow Reef at VP Corals in Taipei Taiwan is the kind of reef tank many of us have dreamed of doing, but this is the first time we’ve ever seen anything like it in real life. This broad shallow tank is four meters by 1.5 meters long, around 14 feet by 5 feet wide, and just barely a foot deep.
The effect is one of incredible proportions with well organized bommies for different coral groups including Euphyllia, Lobophyllia, and two clusters of strictly rainbow Echinophyllia chalice corals. What really brings home the VP Corals Rainbow Reef tank is the expansive areas of white sand which take up at least as much area as the bommies themselves.
It doesn’t hurt that Vincent Wong has quite expensive tastes with very exotic corals from many ‘exclusive‘ locations around the world. His Rainbow Reef is the perfect counterpart to his exclusively SPS reef tank which we featured in a previous video and it is a great example of what can be accomplished when a decent budget intersects with creativity and some really great aquascaping skills.
