Focustronic has carved out a very interesting space in the reef aquarium market for itself in a fairly short time. It all started with the dynamically movable Focus 1 LED light fixture, continued with one of the most refined alkalinity testers, the Alkatronic, and the compact, 5-channel Dosetronic.
Not content to rest on their laurels, Focustronic has teased their next project called MASTER-tronic which will be a new water testing machine for a whole new suite of important saltwater aquarium elements. There’s been a rush on companies trying out ion-specific testing probes and we don’t know what technology the Mastertronic will employ, we do know the elements that Focustronic really wants to incorporate into this machine.

The most complimentary elements to the carbonate hardness measured by the Alkatronic include Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphate and Nitrate and this is precisely what is on the roadmap for the Mastertronic. Don’t get your hopes up on seeing the Mastertronic too soon because it’s been more than a year since we’ve seen the Focus 2 LED light, a much more accessible technology, and it’s still in the finishing stages of development.
Even if the software still has room for improvement, the Alkatronic and Dosetronic are in a league of their own when it comes to industrial design. This makes us very excited to see how the Mastertronic will turn out, and the next blank-tronic device they work on.
