The Inkbird ITC-308 is one of the most trusted thermostats for dual control of temperature, and we just discovered that there’s a wireless version! Having been released about a year ago, the Inkbird ITC-308 Wifi gives users more precise control of both the heating and cooling needs of your aquarium (or brewing, or chickens, or greenhouse) with digital precision that you can monitor wirelessly.
We spotted this wireless version of the Inkbird ITC-308 while topping off our CO2 tanks at the local home brew shop and were shocked to see the minuscule price difference. The industrial grade, commercially trusted Inkbird ITC-308 retails for $48.99 while the wireless option only cost three dollars more?!? The price difference direct from Inkbird is more like $15 but it just goes to show that wireless technology, and the smartphone apps to support them cost a lot less than some companies might lead you to believe, but obviously this company has economies of scale working in its favor.
the Inkbird ITC-308 Wifi is available in both US and Euro style outlets and rated for up to 1100 watts of total power draw. The only curious distinction we can find with the regular ITC-308 is that it doesn’t have the replaceable temperature probe so if it gets frayed or is going to be in a rough & tough environment, you’ll definitely want to take care to protect that sensor. More and more we’re seeing standalone products gain internet connectivity for negligible cost, marginalizing the need for centralized controllers and it’s pretty clear that we’re headed for a world where pretty much all of our aquarium equipment will become smart devices.
