If there’s one thing we’re about and Reef Builders is known for in the aquarium world it’s reef aquarium gear. Therefore it is with great excitement that we kick off our latest reef aquarium build and get to install a whole new crop of fine reefing equipment.
There’s a big trend of setting up biotope freshwater aquariums but our version of a ‘biotope’ is less of a particular habitat, and more of a reflection of reef tank built in a particular country or region of the world. With this idea in mind even before the Reef Builders Studio was built we wanted to set up an ‘Australian Style’ reef aquarium with equipment and livestock that is available and popular in the Ozzie reef scene.
It’s been just a little over two years and finally we are able to really get started on our first regional concept build with the help of Dalua Australia, CADE Australia, Illumagic, eKoral and Marco Rocks. We already showed you the jaw-dropping, ultra complete CADE Pro Reef S2 900 that we unboxed with great flair a few months ago but now that all the critical components have arrived, we can really get this reef tank started in earnest.
The primary reason we can actually build this Australian Style Reef tank is that all of the most popular reef gear from the land down under is now available in America, the CADE tanks getting distribution from Algae Barn and the Illumagic & Dalua devices from Unique Corals. We’ve been holding onto a wide assortment of Australian corals for almost two years including scolies, Lords, bowerbankis, wilsoni, bubble corals and a handful of chalice corals that are going to thrive in their new low light, low energy, higher nutrient of this new reef tank build.
In the photos above you can get a sneak peek of how the rest of the setup came along, and we are beyond excited to start aquascaping this reef tank. This particular collection of equipment and corals is going to be a great how-to, reef setup video series so make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any of our hyper reefing videos, especially the next installments of this reef tank.
