Major reef aquarium gear such as tanks, pumps, lights and dosers get the lion’s share of the airtime when it comes to aquarium equipment, but accessories can really improve the enjoyment of your aquarium. We’ve covered a number of aquarium accessories over the years, including some for water testing, some for dosing, but just in time for the holiday shopping season, here’s ten fun and handy products that we couldn’t live without at the Reef Builders Studio.
This video contains some degree of overlap with accessories that we’ve mentioned before, but since we’re still seeing reefers wipe down their tanks with paper towels instead of squeegees, and dipping test tubes into the aquarium, this is a nice reminder of how much better your aquarium life can be with a few simple tricks. If you’re a casual hobbyist with just one or two tanks, the DeepSee Viewer and new orange filters is a very nice addition to your gear kit, but if you’re a professional or more serious hobbyist, then surely you’ll appreciate the time saving and more efficient devices to streamline testing and cleaning.
More basic accessories include the bucket saver ‘hack’ to use as a protein skimmer stand, the magnetic Flip Kick aquarium smartphone filter, but no matter your degree of aquarium involvement, surely you’ll find one of these tools and gizmos useful in your aquarium.
