The Red Sea Cabinet Slide Out Mounting Panel is a new accessory that has not yet been announced but which is clearly detailed on the packaging of their forthcoming ReefDose dosing pump system. In their promotional video for the ReefDose 2 and ReefDose 4 we learned of the Deluxe 4-Color tube kits which will come in two sets of four different colors for visual coding your dosing lines, but it appears that this is not the only accessory Red Sea has in the pipeline.
The concept of a slide out mounting panel was first revealed in the technical specifications of the Red Sea’s newest and largest all in one tanks, the Reefer S850 and Reefer S1000 which had a number of innovative features, not the least of which was a fancy slide out mounting panel, but now it seems this accessory will also be sold separately. This innovative slide out panel is available in two sizes and can be mounted either on the left or right internal wall of aquarium cabinets for convenient slide out access of various controllers such as those for the ReefWave or other controllable pumps, as well as the Red Sea ReefDose.
The Red Sea Cabinet Slide Out Mounting Panel come in two sizes, a Cabinet Panel 25 and a Cabinet Panel 60 which attach to soft-close sliders which are mounted on 3cm or 1.2 inch spacers to allow clearance for door hinges. The Cabinet Panel 25 has dimensions of 25 x 45 cm or 9.8 x 17.7 inches while the Cabinet Panel 50 measures 60 x 50 cm or 23.6 by 19.7 inches and will carry an estimated retail price of €100 (~$119) and €125 (~$149) respectively.
As if the slide out nature of this ‘controller board’ was convenient enough, the soft-close sliders to which the panels attach can be quick-released for even greater access and maintenance of mounted controllers and dosers. While the new Red Sea Cabinet Slide Out Mounting Panel is surely optimized for Red Sea stands and cabinets, there’s no reason why they won’t be compatible with stands from other brands – while there’s no word on when this new kit will become available, it will be eagerly anticipated by OCD and cable managing reefers until it starts shipping.
