Fauna Marin joins the likes of Tropic Marin and Polyp Lab by providing a new one-part reef tank dosing solution called Ready2Reef. Best known for its Balling Light dosing solution, comprising three parts of Calcium, Magnesium, and Carbonate, plus another three parts of trace elements, Ready2Reef appears to combine everything into one super-easy to dose single bottle.
“Ready2Reef supplies the reef tank with calcium, magnesium, carbonate hardness, and all-important micro and trace elements,” says Fauna Marin. “The highly concentrated Ready2Reef is particularly suitable for a good start and for maintaining mixed reef aquariums. Dosing is possible manually or with a dosing pump.”
A percentage of new reefkeepers struggle with how to dose based on daily consumption and this, like other methods, should still be dosed based on KH testing and how much liquid is required daily to hold alkalinity at the required level. It does then do away with having to test for other parameters or having to dose other liquids, although testing other parameters periodically is recommended to ensure this one part is doing what it should be.
Short of regular partial water changes this, and other one-part dosing solutions are about as easy as it gets. If you’re going to dose KH/Alk from a bottle you may as well use a one-part complete dose like this one to add trace elements as well, and this lends itself to nano reefs, low-consumption mixed reefs, and beginners. And if you move up to auto dosing, it only requires a single doser to administer it.
