The Smart Tester by Reef Factory is a mostly nondescript enclosure that doesn’t divulge its intended purpose but underneath that glossy smoked black window is a veritable aquarium robot. The machinery hidden within Reef Factory’s Reef Tester is designed to perform a range of water tests including calcium, magnesium, phosphate or nitrate, which parameter will depend on the users selection of reagents and can be switched back and forth.
The Smart Tester is a departure from the Reefbots and Mastertronics of the world since each unit can test one parameter at a time making the full suite of water testing a little more like a choose your own adventure novel. Naturally Reef Factory envisions many reef builders will opt for four Smart Testers to each test a separate crucial reef aquarium parameter to compliment their KH Keeper which is specifically engineered solely for measuring alkalinity.
Reef Factory KH Keeper is a New Automatic Alkalinity Testing Machine
Each Smart Tester will be wireless connected to Reef Factory’s Smart Reef platform and can unlock automatic corrections of water chemistry using their dosing pumps which are also cloud connected and controllable from anywhere in the world. As an added bonus Reef Factory will also launch a new ICP water testing service which when used together with the Smart Tester, KH Keeper and controllable pumps will make up their ecosystem of water chemistry management that they call Smart Reef 360.
While we know the Smart Tester will be unique as a standalone water tester we do not know how much they will cost, how big they actually are, oh and we definitely need to know how much they will cost, especially for a set of four, or how much reagents will cost since Reef Factory designed the machine to work with their own proprietary reagents. If you are in Nuremberg for InterZoo this week do stop by their booth and ask us them to divulge some of these details for us because surely there are many users who would love to fill out their automatic water testing, especially of the all important nutrients of nitrate and phosphate.
