A fire in an aquatic store in Houston, Texas, will cost owner Dennis Hoang over $300,000 in livestock alone, he revealed to Reef Builders in a recent video.
The fire happened in the early hours of the evening, devastating the much-loved local fish store and resulting in the call-out of some twenty fire trucks. Two beautiful Red Sea display tanks were destroyed as the fire quickly spread, along with 75-80% of the livestock, which Dennis puts down mainly to smoke damage.
Some dry goods were damaged, but not as much, and now they have the anxious wait while the insurers investigate, before giving the go-ahead to move out, strip the building down, and start over.
We sent new Reef Builders Field Reporter Evie Anderson to visit FJW and report on the devastation firsthand in this latest YouTube video.
