Are you good at growing corals? Are you good at growing Acropora? Do you think you’re good enough to take your skills to competition level? Then this Top Shelf Aquatics/Reef Builders collab competition was tailor-made for you.
What’s the competition?
The Top Shelf Aquatics Coral Smackdown is a competition to see who can grow the best Acropora. Six frags will be provided to one lucky entrant, and they will have six months to grow them as best they can. Top Shelf will make monthly check-ins and after six months those six original frags will be judged on growth, coloration, and health, and the contestant with the best six frags at the end will win over $3000 of equipment and reef tank consumables from a whole host of top sponsors. That’s free coral and the chance of a free tank and equipment!
But there is one more thing – the contestant will be competing against five well-known social media influencers – Queen of Reef, Inappropriate Reefer, Koralito, our very own Remy, and the indomitable Polo Reef.
What frags will be provided?
Top Shelf Aquatics is offering six, top-of-the-line Acropora frags to each contestant. They will consist of one of each of Fruity Splice, Raspberry Splice, Orangesicle, Harvey Wallbanger, Long Island, and Four Loko. They will also provide everyone with the same ruler to keep it fair.
Here’s what TSA requires from any applicant:
- Must submit photos of their tank to prove they can grow Acropora
- Must follow Top Shelf Aquatics & Reef Builders on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
- Must be willing to provide regular updates on the frag’s progression
- Must share the contest on social media
