Red Sea has added two new models to its top-of-the-range Reefer-S line of reef-ready aquariums. Named after their total system volumes, the new Reefer-S 550 and Reefer-S 700 are 4’ and 5’ long, and hold 550 l/145.1gal and 700 l/184.4gal respectively.
Like their bigger brothers the S-850 and S-1000, the new shorter models come with premium features including an aluminum frame cabinet with adjustable feet and removable, replaceable panels, as well as a sliding panel for dosing pumps and controllers, and the brand new ATO+ as standard.
Being G2, it’s also got the newly configured red pipework and precision valve, and the filter socks are also easily removed and upgraded with Red Sea’s own roller filter the Reef Mat.
Despite being shorter in length, the S-550 and S-700 share the extra width and height of the 850 and 1000, at 26.8″ wide and 25.6″ high, and are also made from 19mm thick glass as well as neat, extra bracing from the jet black glass frame around the top.
19mm thick glass is virtually unheard of on an off-the-shelf four feet long aquarium, and with that added euro brace these tanks promise to be solid as a rock, as well as setting a new standard in strength and safety rating for other open-topped tanks to catch up to.
The Reefer-S comes with a three-year warranty as standard and can be upgraded to five years. If you have the budget, the G2 Reefer-S is about as good as it gets. With that extra thick glass, extra bracing, full aluminum frame, new ATO+, and replaceable panels, those features and more all combine to make one hell of a reef-ready aquarium.
And just like all the other Red Sea tanks, you can also go the whole hog and accessorize with Red Sea’s Max configuration of suitable equipment.
