ITC Reef Culture – the people who brought us PARwise and Reef Delete have been busy designing and building their take on magnet-mounted frag racks and other useful reef aquarium accessories.
Called M-Rack, the new approach to mounting accessories is built around one key component – the M-Rack Magnet – a sleek-looking sealed magnet mount with a universal wet side that can grip and hold any one of 10 accessories so far. Several of those accessories are frag racks in different shapes and sizes but there are also probe and dosing line holders, heater holders, a feeding ring, a sock holder, and more. Every heater will be improved by magnet mounting versus failing rubber suckers, and a magnet mounting sock holder will make filter socks super versatile versus fixed height, fixed width (hang-on,) acrylic brackets.
Magnets are so handy, we wouldn’t recommend any wave pump without one, but a badly sealed magnet on the wet side of a pump or algae scraper can cause lots of problems that now show up on ICP tests. ITC Reef Culture is no stranger to sealing devices for marine use, and they are proud of their low-profile molded and sealed M-Rack Magnets with rubber locking plug that allows for quick release and quick swap-out of accessories, although some accessories do require two magnets.
The accessories are made from Perspex brand acrylic and the shape of the plug hole in the frag racks is for a future planned locking insert. They supply their own frag plugs too. The Magnet is £26.99 on its own, then you pair it with your choice of accessory, starting at £4.99. Currently, the M-Rack magnet will only grip up to 12mm glass, but one to clamp onto 15mm and 19mm glass aquariums is planned for the future. M-Rack is designed and manufactured entirely in the UK, and available from Aquatic Now. Global pricing and availability will follow.
