Reef Factory is finishing a strong year with the forthcoming release of its latest generation striplight, the Reef Flare Bar 2. Like the Reef Flare Bar before it, the Reef Flare Bar 2 is a long, thin, linear light fixture, populated with a single row of lensed LEDs that are high on par and pur, and heavy in the blue and violet spectrums to both encourage photosynthesis as well as making your corals pop.
Like the Reef Flare Pro fixtures, Reef Flare Bar 2 comes in three simple sizes – a 60cm/24” S size for Small, a 90cm/35” M size for Medium, and a 120cm/47” L size for Large, populated with 18, 24 and 36 LEDs respectively, and using a maximum power draw of 30, 45 and 60 watts.
The attraction of reef spec LED striplights is that they can be used either on their own or as supplementary lights on large tanks to fill out any shadows while also offering extra pop. Being passively cooled, these don’t make any noise, they can either be suspended on wires, mount to the tank on angle adjustable legs, or fit to Reef Flare Pros using brackets, but being Reef Factory lights, these also connect to the all-important Smart Reef app, giving you programming and dimming functionality.
Reef Flare Bar 2 carries a new hexagonal profile, aligning it with that of the Reef Flare Pro, and it also has a new control system. The icing on the cake is the price, at a very reasonable 240€ / £219, 260€ / £239 and 280€ / £259 each, respectively.
