If you are lucky enough to travel to another country, visit their reef aquarium stores and see what the main differences are. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Evie and Remy got to visit a few local fish stores while in Melbourne Australia for a pet show, and one of the ones recommended that they go visit is Aquamarine Aquaristic. This marine-only, livestock-heavy, coral-heavy store is bursting with aquacultured and wild corals from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and in fact, due to import bans and biosecurity, Aussie corals are the only corals allowed to be sold in Australia.
But the world’s largest barrier reef doesn’t disappoint in terms of its variety and diversity, and Aquamarine collects dozens of variants of popular corals from Goniopora to bowerbanki, to Strawberry Shortcake and Cynarina, including a 25-kilogram mega goni colony and a seven polyp Cynarina that we’ve written about on this website.
Take it away, Evie and Remy…
