Nyos has added two new smaller models to its modern-looking Opus G2 aquarium range. Opus G2 200 is a compact cube tank at 55x55x55cm/22″x22″x22″ while the G2 250 bridges the gap between the 200 and 300 models, at a squat 70x55x53cm/28″x22″x21″ high, providing large water volume in a relatively small space.
Like the Opus 300 and 440, the G2 200 and 250 models are built from low-iron glass with clear silicone, dark blue background, and that characteristically flat built-in weir with hard plumbing that runs down the outside of the tank at the back. This allows for maximum space, water flow, and aquascaping opportunities inside the tank, although we’ve seen some users go one step further and remove the background too, for an even more see-through minimalistic vista.
Sump-side, the tanks come with purple PVC pipework, ball valve, and a simple sump design with a single filter sock, skimmer/reactor chamber, and return pump chamber, with a slimline, glass ATO reservoir to the side.
Cabinet options
All Opus aquariums come with a choice of either a chunky, premium Pro-Line cabinet with adjustable feet and 125-degree soft close hinges or the Slim-Line cabinet whose lines confirm more to the usual reef-ready tank style. All cabinets come in either white or basalt grey.
There’s something about cube tanks that just lend themselves to reefing. You have to keep the tangs out of course. Still, their compact footprint, relatively low price, and the need for just one light make them easy to set up, move, and accommodate, and quick and simple to stock. Nyos also carries that European build and branding and the clear silicone, oversized cabinet, and custom weir comb combo makes the Opus G2 aquariums stand out and look different.
