Remy and I were in Dallas after Aquashella, and we visited Vibrant Corals, a wholesaler that brings in corals from all over the world to distribute to US-based stores. While there, we made some videos, talked, shopped, and looked at amazing corals. One coral in particular caught my eye – a beautiful Favites from the Solomon Islands.
It’s not often new Favites come in so striking. Most “war corals” in the industry are typically red and purple with green eyes. This piece was a remix of the classic phenotype sporting sharp contrasting green and orange primary colors with deep purple and red surrounding a bright green mouth.
After realizing the piece’s uniqueness, I was determined to bring it home. To my dismay, I realized it had already been sold to none other than Ben from BSA Corals. I spoke with Ben; he has conditioned and fragged the piece since Aquashella. He aptly named it the “BSA Rain of War Favites” and should have pieces available for purchase soon. Shoutout to Ben for supplying the DSLR images in this article. We will soon be acquiring a piece to grow out at the studio!
