True yellow is a rare color to find in most coral species. But true yellow in Cynarina lacrymalis? That’s something truly rare. Only a handful of yellow base Cynarina have appeared in the supply chain in the last few years.
In addition, the two pieces from BSA corals aren’t just yellow. The first piece has a dark maroon and green mouth and features light blue stripes that run from the mouth to the rim of the polyp, creating a holographic blue glow emanating from within the coral. Moreover, white complexes are sprinkled into the rim of the piece. All of this is finished with light green undertones, showcasing the classic “holy grail” color scheme.
The first piece.
The second piece is even more impressive. It features a bright baby blue, a dark maroon mouth, and more apparent green striping. The most impressive aspect of this piece is its small sprinkling of other colors. Dark blue lightning bolts on a green area in the bottom right, maroon, grey, and magenta mixed in with cream and green in the upper right. All of these features stand out, but they also exist in addition to every unique feature the first piece has – a blue striping check and white/beige complexes at the rim of the piece check. Out of all of the Cynarina I have seen, this one takes the cake in terms of quality and rarity. A similar piece is now on my bucket list for studio acquisitions.
The second piece.
Ben Aronowitz of BSA Corals has an eye for unique pieces, but this pair of Cynarina’s truly demonstrates why he has the Best Selection Around. If you’re interested in seeing what else Ben has to offer, check out his website here.
