Aquarium Connections, home of the UK Triton Lab and UK distributors for Triton, ReefBrite, Focustronic, Benepets, and UltraReef, has successfully settled Acanthophyllia.
Yesterday, they shared the following on social media:
“We’re thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our spawning journey! After months of dedicated research and meticulous experimentation, we’ve achieved remarkable success in settling Acanthophyllia offspring from our March spawning.
Look at these vibrant babies! since our first spawn, we’ve observed sporadic settlement patterns. However, this time, something truly extraordinary happened: the babies settled in a remarkably tight, concentrated formation on our specialised media

This achievement marks a crucial step towards revolutionizing the aquaculture industry. By refining our techniques, we’re paving the way for sustainable and efficient coral propagation. We’re committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and contributing to a healthier marine ecosystem.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to innovate and share our findings.”
This is exciting news and a spectacular achievement by the team at Aquarium Connections. Hopefully, as more people begin to successfully spawn coral (especially solitary polyps) in captivity, it can eventually influence the supply chain and decrease the demand for wild collection, helping the hobby become more sustainable.
