All new Reef Octopus Pro Series skimmers

The Reef Octopus Pro-Series protein skimmers are a new line of products showcased when the Australian company recently relaunched its website. Not to be confused with Super Reef Octopus, Reef Octopus seems to be a separate company although they do deploy similar products including the use of the Bubble Blaster pumps. These Bubble Blaster pumps appear to be the same models utilized by Super Reef Octopus as well as other skimmers on the market.

While the names are similar the Reef Octopus brand shares a lot of the styling and characteristics of the Super Reef Octopus brand so we aren’t sure who’s building what for who when it comes to these skimmers but the bottom line is they are sleek and sexy and we are really intrigued by the Bubble Blaster pumps. The Reef Octopus Pro-Series line “…employs all the finest features of previous octopus skimmers into one powerhouse, setting a new benchmark of performance. Pro-series incorporates a Bubble Blaster pump the ultimate skimming catalyst, look no further.”

With three models — the Reef Octopus Pro-Series X1000, X2000 and X3000 — this line has plenty of punch for a few different sized tanks. In case you are looking for some skimmers that take up less room in the sump, the company is also showcasing the Cone Sump Saver series in three models with a Bubble Blaster pump mounted internally to keep the footprint low. We don’t have pricing yet on these skimmer but we can imagine they are in line with other “Super” Reef Octopus products.

    Honya motor company. Octopus is octopus. Those 3 skimmers have been in their line for some time now. A new sticker and a different logo wont change the fact that they are the same. Who is the distributor? CoralVue?

    DJ Not sure they have a distributor in NA at all. The Reef Octopus line is an Australian company…the acrylic construction most likely from the Chinese SRO and just imported with a new sticker slapped on them.

    They are two different companies. I distribute through Coralvue and the line of skimmers are different than the above article.

    The RO skimmers through coralvue are re-labeled SWC skimmers made in China. The manufacture calls them SWC for one company and Reef Octopus for Coralvue.

    These are the same Chinese skimmers with a different decal..hardly a new line of products.

    I must admit, however, the new decal is much nicer :)

    The SRO line has these exact external skimmers with a different sticker. Ext1000,2000, and 3000. How are they any different. And for that matter they are identical to the 5000ext SRO I have on a clients tank now. Would anyone like a picture for reference???

    Honya motor company makes all of it. Octopus, SRO, etc. All the same Chinese mfg stuff. Period. So it’s Chinese by way of Australia… Probably male them even worse on margins due to the extra cost of getting it from down under.
