Ecoxotic releases LED Arm Light from EcoPico as a standalone fixture

8

As one of the cool features to the nifty EcoPico aquarium kit, Ecoxotic just released the LED Arm Light as a standalone fixture you can add to your existing setup or to add more pop to your EcoPico. Capable of being secured on any rimless aquarium up to 6mm in thickness, the Ecoxotic LED Arm Light comes complete with one LED light strip (2 x 12,000K White 1 x 453nm Actinic Blue) and a transformer. The tiny fixture can also be upgraded and customized to fit up to two additional LED strips to dial in the right light spectrum for your tank. You will need a three-way splitter to power the additional lights without needing another power supply. The LED Arm Light retails for $44.95 and each addition LED strip runs $22.95 — all are available at Ecoxotic’s online store or through your local Ecoxotic retailer.

How many would I need to light a 12g cadlights tank to support LPS and a few SPSs?

Way too many. These LEDs are very dim and I do not see them supporting many corals at all. I was considering the EcoPico tank for a frank tank, but once I saw it in person I knew it would not work. They are not the same LEDs as in the Stunner Strips and are much dimmer.

You can keep most LPS with one fixture upgraded to 3-5 strips. I’ve had various different softies and LPS in an EcoPico for well over 8 months with 3 strips.

    1 b/w, 1 w, and 1 b strip.

I wouldn’t recommend this for keeping SPS.

Besides…you can easily buy some more stunners and add them to the side…..SPS…probably not too many kinds but seriatopora, montipora caps, pocillapora damicornis…etc….easy to keep ones.

That’s odd. I have been keeping LPS and softies with no problem for a couple weeks at this point. The colors have gotten SO much better than before. Everything is happy as can be and looking great. I even got some PAR readings for the EcoPico strips. At 16″ they are putting out about 40 PAR. Nothing great but it will certainly keep your corals alive and growing.

I have 3 strips over my tank (1 all blue and 2 combos) and I will be adding 2 more here pretty soon.

I just hope that Ecoxotic will make some reflectors for these little strips and add in some other colors to play with.
