The Reef Octopus BH50 nano protein skimmer is a hang-on skimmer attempting to pack in big skimmer features into a smaller footprint. The design of the BH50 skimmer features an Octopus OTP300s needlwheel pump, a bubble diffuser plate, air silencer and riser tube to make water level adjustments, plus featuring a nicely sized collection cup. The Reef Octopus BH50 is multifaceted too, allowing you to mount it in a sump or in the tank. Measuring in at just under 14 in. tall, the skimmer has a footprint of 5 x 5 1/2 in. using a 3.1 in. reaction chamber and a 3 1/2 in. diameter collection cup and is rated for tanks up to 50 gallons. The mounting bracket looks pretty versatile too, allowing you to not only adjust it up and down but lets you shift it left or right 90 degrees. The skimmer should be available to retailers soon. No word on pricing yet.
