The Vortech MP10 has been made official by Ecotech Marine. This new propeller type pump fits nicely below the MP20 and the larger brother MP40. The MP10 is designed for aquariums between 2.5 to 50 gallon range through the use of its propeller pushing water from 500 to 1575 gallons per hour. While pushing water up to 1575 gallons per hour it uses just 8-18 watts of electricity. You’ll need at least 2.25″ of room in the back or side of your aquarium where you’ll want to put the MP10 and the dimensions are: wet Side- 2.5″ diameter by 1.5″ long, Dry Side – 2.5″ diameter by 2″ long. These are shipping late Spring, late May would be our guess for a very reasonable $195. You can click the read link for more specs, the official press release, and more photos.
EcoTech Marine Introduces the VorTech MP10 for Nano Aquariums
April 3, 2009–Marine Aquarium Expo—Orange County, CA—EcoTech Marine, the company that revolutionized reef aquarium propeller pumps, today previewed its latest offering – the ultra small VorTech MP10. The MP10 leverages the award-winning technology of the highly-acclaimed VorTech MP40w and delivers a pump ideally suited for aquariums in the 2.5 to 50 gallon range that will fit in the palm of even the smallest hands.
“Minimal visual intrusion in the aquarium is essential to the nano reef enthusiast experience,†says Tim Marks, president of EcoTech Marine. “The MP10, without question, offers the smallest in-tank foot print of any commercially-available pump capable of pushing 1575 gallons per hour, once again proving that smaller is better.â€
The patented VorTech technology produces unmatched broad yet gentle flow while placing the motor outside the tank—preserving the beauty of the aquarium and enhancing the health of the tank’s ecosystem. With all the electrical components outside the aquarium and a variety of easy-to-program modes, the VorTech is the safest, most versatile pump on the market.
“Nano has moved well beyond trend and is here to stay,†said Marks. “The marketplace demanded this product so we’ve applied our expertise in developing low-profile pumps to this burgeoning segment and the early indications are people are blown away by its sleek looks, versatility and broad flow.â€
