Although the Vertex Alpha 250/BK Cone skimmer was notably absent at the Marine Aquarium Expo a little while back, these newly minted intimate photos of the Alpha 250 are a good sign that indeed these skimmers are bound for their final distribution destination, Premium Aquatics. We’ve also just learned that the BK Cone will be shipping with two separate venturi fittings: the original 1500lph stock venturi and the newly tweaked 1800lph turbo venturi. Owners of the Vertex hottie will have the option to run the beast with a 2:1 air water mixture ratio with the fifteener but it is unclear how the larger 1800lph venturi will affect the water intake and resulting air water ratio. We’re told the Red Dragon using the larger venturi will consume 40 watts which is just a tad more than the rated 38watts while using the more modest venturi. We presume that some of those shiny red parts in the lower center of the image above are parts of the new venturis. The first run of the BK Skoners will be limited and we doubt that the intro price of $999 will be honored after this first run so if you want one of these don’t get stuck dropping twelve hundy a few months down the road. Follow the break for detailed close ups and the Final Vertex/Royal-Exclusive Bubble King Alpha 250 Cone skimmer.
