Just as everyone was packing up their MACNA booths, we squeezed in just a little face time with a new LED floodlight from Reefbrite Illumination. This solidly built fixture features all metal construction with the power supply and drivers incorporated into the base and a heatsink carved out of the back of the light panel. The weatherproof housing also has a light panel which can articulate 90 degrees in one dimension and it can also be rotated radially by loosening the securing bolt. At the time, Reefbrite was busy packing up so we didnt eek out many details: The LED floodlight consumes about 25 watts of power, the 18 high power LEDs are likely of the 1 watt flavor and the reflectors were probably in the 60 degree neighborhood. Either way, as you can see in the image above, this bright little puppy made quite an intense spotlight of illumination. The 6500 Kelvin spectrum is great for growth but aside from refugium uses, if used over a reef aquarium this LED Floodlight will benefit from some actinic LED supplementation for a better balance of color. The complete unit should be shipping for about $250 to $300 in the next few weeks.
