The piebald Zebrasoma tang featured in this video has some of the most unusual color patterning we’ve seen in this genus. Leave it to Chingchai, creator of the 1200 gallon DSPS reef tank, to have what appears to be a 200 gallon corner reef tank being employed as a quarantine tank. In addition to the really cool piebald zebrasoma, the QT is also conditioning a pair of mitratus butterflyfish, Chaetodon mitratus, some bimaculatus anthias, Pseudanthias bimaculatus, and a handful of very nice SPS colonies which appear to either also be ‘in quarantine’ or maybe they are just being held in this tank until they can be more carefully placed in the main 1200 DSPS reef.
We don’t know about you guys but our QTs tend to be completely bare bottom affairs, with some PVC fittings for shelter and a few resin decorations if we’re lucky. Although this QT tank does isolate the new fish from the main tank for observation and conditioning, it would be mighty difficult to use any prophylactics or treat for any parasites should they arise. In either case, we really shared this video because of the piebald Zebrasoma, that fish is HOT!
