The Galaxy T5 90 is an interesting hybrid aquarium light from Sfiligoi which mixes LED and T5 lighting. While most of the Galaxy and Sirius line is populated with GU10 bulbs of 5mm LEDs, the Galaxy T5 90 uses much more reliable high powered LEDs that are are just as easily changed. The 2.2 watt LEDs come with a built in reflector and are available in the usual gamut of LED colors which can be mixed and matched to suit your tastes. The three foot light fixture ships with the 42 LED lamps but for just shy of $2400, you’ll have the privilege of supplying eight of your own 39 watt fluorescent tubes. The LED lamps have built in heatsink and the entire T5 90 fixture is actively cooled. Unlike the LED T5 hybrid lights we’ve seen from Aquactinics, CoralVue and Giesemann that have a single strip of LEDs to add some glimmer lines to your tank, the Galaxy T5 90 is giving the LEDs a lot more prime real estate to do it’s thing. For now the Giesemann Helios is the only other light fixture that compares in this higher tier of LED + T5 hybrid lighting space and we are really interested to see what great tanks we’ll see with the use of both great lighting types. The Sfiligoi Galaxy T5 90 hybride light fixture is available to order from Aquatics Elite.
