The Thielli clownfish, Amphiprion thielli, is not a fish that is often seen in the aquarium trade and it shows up even less frequently than the white cap clownfish, Amphiprion leucokranos. Both of these, the thielli and the white cap clownfish are hybrid ‘species’ which are the result of mostly intentional crosses.
We had the good fortune of running into this large mature Thielli clownfish specimen that has been living in the care of Julian Spring for at least 13 years. This Thielli individual rules it’s own lagoonal reef tank in the office of Two Little Fishies and we were thrilled with how photo and videogenic this specimen turned out to be. Anyone out there have a Thielli clownfish or have seen any come into the hobby in recent years?
