This video show just why Browning Pass is referred to as “The Best Cold-Water Diving in the Known Universe.” If you aren’t familiar with the name, Browning Pass is located just outside Port Hardy in British Columbia on the northern most point of Vancouver Island. The area is fed with nutrients from the Japan current and then stimulated by billions of gallons of tidal flow making it a rich zone for thriving Azoox life.
We get spoiled with the tropical coral reefs and often forget about the wondrous and colorful underwater landscape in nutrient-rich cold water zones making it a hotbed of non-photosynthetic (azooxanthellate) corals, sea pens and other cold-water critters. This video makes us want to grab our dry suit and head north to Canada…enjoy!
