The Libra dosing pump from Vertex Aquaristik is a very capable and versatile peristaltic dosing device. Within about a month, Vertex will release the Libra with the built-in touch sensitive controller and three dosing pumps which will come with either a very accurate stepping motor or a DC motor. The Llibra’s controller features some fancy programming capabilities with a simple icon-driven menu navigation on the monochrome display. In addition to being simply programmed to dose at a certain rate and during certain times, the Libra will be networkable with the Cerebra aquarium controller and it can also do stoichiometry to get precise adjustment of of water chemistry.
With the Vertex Libra it will be possible to enter your tank volume and your measured level of calcium or alkalinity, and with certain channels of the Libra dosing pump being designated to dose separate element the Libra will gradually and automatically make the chemical adjustment to a desired concentration. Pretty neat huh? The main unit of the Lbra controller will come as a master unit with the built in controller and touchscreen which is expected to cost $450 for DC motors, and perhaps around $600 for the more precise version of the LIbra using the more sensitive stepping motors. A Libra slave unit with four pumps that daisy chains with the master unit will be available in the future.
