This red dragonet is an unusual deep water species that was acquired by Blue Harbor Japan and it has a striking red and white coloration. The scooter blennies and mandarin gobies (neither of which are blennies or gobies) get the lion’s share of the aquarium attention in the dragonet family of cool fishes. Only very recently has there been some fresh activity in breeding dragonets of any kind with ORA breeding and offering Synchiropus splendidus captive raised on a commercial level and Dr. Wittenrich successfully raising the lancer dragonet. Now if a few more of these neat deepwater dragonets could be collected someone could apply the successes with the lancer dragonet to this unknown beauty.
