Let’s face it, surgeonfish aka tangs are really friendly and inquisitive fish, especially the members of the Naso genus. This Naso brevicornis has been in captivity for ten years during which time it has become aware that people outside the tank are not scary, but instead are good for food, cleaning up the tank and filling the ecological niche of a parasite cleaner.
The cool video shows how calm and patient a veteran aquarium fish can be when having its gills tended to by The Hand. Watch how this aquarist even gently pushes the fish aside a couple inches to get a better look or a better angle at whatever is going on with the fish’s gill – we hope this Naso is ok because that is one seriously friendly unicorn tang.
