The DOC 9415 and 9430 are Tunze’s latest protein skimmer that bring with them a suite of new features for improved efficiency and reduced noise. The Tunze DOC 9415 and DOC 9430 both use a Hydrofoamer Silence pump, based on the quiet and efficient Tunze Silence water pump; the DOC 9415 uses a 15 watt Hydrofoamer Silence that draws 850 lph of air and the DOC 9430 uses a 24 watt Hydrofoamer Silence which draws 1100 lph of air.
Both of Tunze’s new DOC Skimmers have a modest footprint and a filter sock for a bubble trap with an integrated silencer for the Hydrofoamer’s air intake which also moistens the incoming air, reducing the amount of salt creep that can build up in the aspirator valve.
Like other new Tunze DOC skimmers, the DOC 9415 and DOC 9430 are automatically adjusted skimmers. This means that as long as they are placed in sumps with an appropriate water level, and it is unsure what that height is, both the new DOC 9415 and 9430 are the most plug and play skimmers possible.
American availability and pricing is unknown at this time, but Tunze products have become more and more affordable and competitive in the aquarium market over the last couple product cycles and we expect no less from the Tunze DOC 9415 and DOC 9430. Our pals at Acuaristicahave dug up some tentative European pricing of 493€ ($653.69) for the DOC 9415 and 573€ ($758.67) for the DOC 9430 but we expect American pricing to come in a little under the exact exchange rate.
