Tunze is rolling out a few new products around Interzoo 2012 and the Tunze Comline DOC Skimmer 9004 is the latest nano skimmer in the Tunze line of products. Designed for a lightly-stocked tank up to 65 gallons (250 liters) or a heavily stocked 40 gallon (150 liter) aquarium.
The Tunze 9004 nano skimmer uses a Tunze Foamer 9004.040 pump to drive the skimmer. The high air output, low energy consuming pump is quiet and generates fine air bubbles between 0.1 and 0.3mm to ensure efficient and effective removal of organic matter from the aquarium. The Tunze Foamer 9004.040 draws around 40 GPH of air (150l/hour) while using a meager 4W of power and can run at either 230 or 115V.The Tunze 9004 also uses the company’s “Flash Skimming” principle, taking water from the surface to help with surface film removal.
Measuring in at 4.3 x 3.5 x 12 in. (110 x W 90 x H 305mm), the Tunze Comline DOC Skimmer 9004 has a small footprint to make it a great option inside the display tank or in a small sump. Just keep in mind the suggested immersion depth around 225mm to 245mm (8.86 to 9.65 in.) when installing it in your system. The skimmer comes equipped with a magnetic holder to easily install on the aquarium with a pane thickness up to 12mm thick. For thicker glass, a second magnetic holder can be employed.
Adding to Tunze’s growing line of efficient, effective and quiet protein skimmers, the Tunze 9004 looks to pack a lot of punch in a relatively small footprint. Currently priced around €107.45 in Europe, look for Tunze to release US pricing soon.
